As announced by HWE President Oswald Chapman earlier today (Feb. 8), the most coveted prize in the HWE women's division will be on the line when Harley Clay defends the HWE Women's Championship against Serena Bates at HWE Fallout on Feb. 24.
Bates won the right to challenge for the championship at the HWE WrestleTopia pay-per-view in an incredible 4-Way match when she made Madison Hammer submit with her patented Serena Lock submission hold. That same night, Clay – the first and, at press time only, Women's Champion in HWE history – escaped a match with Livia clutching her championship.
The Outlier would look to continue the momentum she had on the Jan. 30 episode of ShowDown in a one-on-one match with Madison Hammer, and managed to score a count out victory when the champ made her way to the ring. Clay informed Bates that she wasn't like the so-called “nobodies” that Bates had made submit before. The Princess of Pain defiantly boasted that she was unlike any opponent Bates had come across and would not submit to the Serena Lock. Bates retorted that Clay would tap her championship away.
One week later, moments after Bates submitted Morgana Payne in a thrilling women's match on ShowDown, Clay would once again hit the ring. Instead of attacking her number-one contender, however, The Princess of Pain opted to attack Payne and would then apply her own version of Bates' deadly submission, all the while looking The Outlier in the eyes. It was a truly disturbing display from the champion but one which had a point to it.
Maybe the question of Harley Clay cannot be answered with the Serena Lock. That won't stop Bates trying, though, when the two meet face-to-face at HWE Fallout with Clay's coveted HWE Women's Championship on the line!
HWE Fallout comes your way on Sunday, February 24, exclusively on the HWE Network.
